SCENARIO

You work as a Business Manager at Adidas – NSW Head Office in the Public Relations Department.

This department is managed by the Public Relations Manager and you work in a team of 5 Business Managers.

Your role as Business Manager in the Public Relations Department includes the requirement to identify and manage the business risk that results from adverse public relations.

Recently Oxfam (Australia) released an article over the internet – this article is reproduced below.

Oxfam Australia is an organisation that is reportedly dedicated to fighting social injustice around the world – especially social injustice which is created by businesses.Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk Answers Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk And Student Assessment Task Answers Online

Adidas: So what’s the problem with Adidas? July 2016

Thousands of workers endure poverty wages and harsh sweatshop-like conditions to make Adidas their coveted sports shoes. Adidas also don’t have a good track record in relation to upholding trade union rights.

We have been in constant correspondence with Adidas since 2006 asking that they uphold the rights of their workers.

So what’s the solution?

Better wages

Workers require a living wage, which is one that allows them to meet the basic needs of a family after working a full-time working week without overtime. Adidas won’t commit to a living wage for its workers.

But it will commit to paying already high earning sport stars millions of dollars to endorse their products.

The right to form trade unions

Adidas gets much of its gear made in countries and free trade zones where it is illegal or extremely difficult for workers to organise into unions. Without this united structure, it is near impossible for individual workers to ask for improved conditions without fear of retribution.

Adidas has taken a positive step by signing onto the new Freedom of Association Protocol in Indonesia. Adidas was an active participant in negotiations with Indonesian unions and supplier factories to develop the Freedom of Association Protocol. The Protocol, which Adidas signed onto in June 2011, is already having positive impacts in a number of supplier factories. But Adidas must work hard to ensure that the Protocol is implemented at the factory level throughout its supply chain.Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk Answers Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk And Student Assessment Task Answers Online

A confidential complaints structure

When workers suffer sexual harassment, intimidation, violence or other human rights violations they need to be able to access a confidential complaints mechanism, and they need those complaints to be taken seriously and handled sensitively. In response to public pressure, Adidas has made some effort to establish complaint mechanisms in some factories, but most Adidas workers don’t have access to a complaint mechanism which they have reason to trust.

Ban short-term contracts

Adidas moves its production where it likes when it likes and does not ban or discourage short-term contracts for its workers. So when it leaves an area those workers on short-term contracts are left with nothing.

Incentives for respecting workers’ rights

Adidas should offer meaningful incentives to factories that respect workers’ rights, particularly workers’ right to organise trade unions. Without genuine incentives, human rights abuses will continue

Your Department Manager has requested that you identify and manage one of the possible business risks that might result from the release of this article – that is a drop in sales figures for Adidas shoes in NSW.

Part A: Risk Management Plan

In the first instance, you are required to undertake the required research and stakeholder analysis to determine the scope and context of the risk and to develop a Risk Management Plan – which includes a communication plan

Your Department Manager has sent the team this email:

RE: Possible business risks associated with the Oxfam release of the article: ‘Adidas: So what’s the problem with Adidas?’

Dear Business Managers

No doubt you are aware of the release this year of the Oxfam Australia article.

This type of adverse publicity can have serious effects on our sales – as you know the Australian population is severely affected by these types of allegations and our competitors will quickly put out advertising that assures consumers that they don’t do what Adidas does – so buy their shoes, not ours!!

As Business Managers I want you to undertake a Risk Management Plan to reduce the impact of the Oxfam article on NSW sales by releasing an advertising campaign: ‘When you buy Adidas shoes you are buying ethical shoes ‘ in the Sydney Morning Herald– 2 x full-page, colour, graphics etc that assures the Australian Consumers that we are a very ‘community’ conscious company – very ethical – and that our production processes and products reflects these values- so when you buy Adidas shoes you are buying ethical shoes.

I require you to undertake a risk management strategy that involves:

  • Establishing the risk context: Adidas policies and procedures involved, risk management process, stakeholders, critical factors.
  • Communicating the risk plan to other Business Managers and your Department Head – have a meeting – get some feedback and amend the plan if necessary
  • Identifying the risk.
  • Analyzing the risk.
  • Selecting, implementing and evaluating your risk management process.

However, I need you to take into account all of the following risk factors:

  • To date (the article was released a year ago) there is no real evidence of a related drop in shoe sales in NSW as a result of the article.
  • However sales figures from past occurrences such as this for other companies shows that this type of bad publicity takes approximately 2 years to impact on sales
  • The expected drop in shoe sales is expected to be around 20% in NSW alone
  • The value of this is $1.9 million.
  • The type of advert I want will cost $2 million to create and further costs to place in the Sydney Morning Herald.
  • There is no evidence that this advert will work.Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk Answers Bsbrsk501 Manage Risk And Student Assessment Task Answers Online

You are required to compete the Adidas Risk Management Pan using the standard Adidas Template which includes provision for a Communication Plan with stakeholders. You might identify as stakeholders the Public Relations Manager, Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Finance Manager and externally a representative from the Shareholders Committee.

Please hold a stakeholder meeting and invite the relevant parties to assist with the identification of risks that may apply to this scope. So, in consultation with relevant parties:

  • Generate a list of risks that apply to the scope.
  • Assess likelihood of risks occurring.
  • Assess impact or consequence if risks occur.
  • Evaluate and prioritise risks for treatment.

You can document this meeting using the Meeting Minutes Template. I have booked 21 July 2017 in the Meeting Room 1 Sydney Head Office – for you to hold the meeting. 9 am start.

The business was established to cater for a growing demand for skin products that contain eco- friendly and natural ingredients. There is also an emphasis on eco-friendly packaging. The company makes all its products in a small factory.

The company sells its products direct to a chain of health food shops across Australia, as well as online through its own web site. Products ordered online are shipped directly to customers from the factory. Products provided to health food shops are provided to the health food shop distributor who then distributes the products to all its stores. What is a Competency-Based Assessment

The features of a competency-based assessment system are:

  • It is focused on what learners can do and whether it meets the criteria specified by the industry as competency standards.
  • Assessment should mirror the environment the learner will encounter in the workplace.
  • Assessment criteria should be clearly stated to the learner at the beginning of the learning process.
  • Assessment should be holistic. That is, it aims to assess as many elements and/or units of competency as is feasible at one time.
  • Incompetency assessment a learner receives one of only two outcomes – competent or not yet competent.
  • The basis of assessment is in applying knowledge for some purpose. In a competency system, knowledge for the sake of knowledge is seen to be ineffectual unless it assists a person to perform a task to the level required in the workplace.
  • The emphasis in assessment is on assessable outcomes that are clearly stated for the trainer and learner.  Assessable outcomes are tied to the relevant industry competency standards where these exist.  Where such competencies do not exist, the outcomes are based upon those identified in a training needs analysis. chc33015 assessment answers.

Definition of competency

Assessment in this context can be defined as:

  • The fair, valid, reliable, and flexible gathering and recording of evidence to support judgment on whether competence has been achieved. Skills and knowledge (developed either in a structured learning situation, at work, or in some other context) are assessed against national standards of competence required by industry, rather than compared with the skills and knowledge of other learners.

THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ASSESSING NATIONALLY RECOGNISED TRAINING

Developing and conducting the assessment, in an Australian vocational education and training context, is founded on a number of basic conventions:

The principles of assessment

  • Assessment must be valid
    • Assessment must include the full range of skills and knowledge needed to demonstrate competency.
    • Assessment must include a combination of knowledge and skills with their practical application.
    • Assessment, where possible, must include judgments based on evidence drawn from a number of occasions and across a number of contexts.
  • Assessment must be reliable
    • Assessment must be reliable and must be regularly reviewed to ensure that assessors are making decisions in a consistent manner.
    • Assessors must be trained in national competency standards for assessors to ensure reliability.
  • Assessment must be flexible
    • Assessment, where possible, must cover both the on and off-the-job components of training within a course.
    • Assessment must provide for the recognition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes regardless of how they have been acquired.
    • Assessment must be made accessible to learners through a variety of delivery modes, so they can proceed through modularized training packages to gain competencies.
  • Assessment must be fair and equitable
    • Assessment must be equitable to all groups of learners.
    • Assessment procedures and criteria must be made clear to all learners before assessment.
    • Assessment must be mutually developed and agreed upon between the assessor and the assessed.
    • Assessment must be able to be challenged.  Appropriate mechanisms must be made for reassessment as a result of the challenge.

The rules of evidence (from Training in Australia by M Tovey, D Lawlor)

When collecting evidence there are certain rules that apply to that evidence. All evidence must be valid, sufficient, authentic and current;

  • Valid
    • Evidence gathered should meet the requirements of the unit of competency. This evidence should match or at least reflect the type of performance that is to be assessed, whether it covers knowledge, skills or attitudes.
  • Sufficient
    • This rule relates to the amount of evidence gathered It is imperative that enough evidence is gathered to satisfy the requirements that the learner is competent across all aspects of the unit of competency.
  • Authentic
    • When evidence is gathered the assessor must be satisfied that evidence is the learner’s own work.
  • Current
    • This relates to the recency of the evidence and whether the evidence relates to current abilities.

THE DIMENSIONS OF COMPETENCY

The national concept of competency includes all aspects of work performance and not only narrow task skills. The four dimensions of competency are:

  • Task skills
  • Task management skills
  • Contingency management skills
  • Job role and environment skills

REASONABLE ADJUSTMENT

Adapted Reasonable Adjustment in teaching, learning, and assessment for learners with a disability – November 2010 – Prepared by – Queensland VET Development Centre. chc33015 assessment answers.

Reasonable adjustment in VET is the term applied to modifying the learning environment or making changes to the training delivered to assist a learner with a disability. A reasonable adjustment can be as simple as changing classrooms to be closer to amenities or installing a particular type of software on a computer for a person with vision impairment.

Why make a reasonable adjustment?

We make reasonable adjustments in VET to make sure that learners with a disability have:

  • the same learning opportunities as learners without a disability
  • the same opportunity to perform and complete assessments as those without a disability.

Reasonable adjustment applied to participate in teaching, learning, and assessment activities can include:

  • customizing resources and assessment activities within the training package or accredited course
  • modifying the presentation medium learner support
  • use of assistive/adaptive technologies
  • making information accessible both prior to enrolment and during the course
  • monitoring the adjustments to ensure learner needs continue to be met.

Assistive / Adaptive Technologies

Assistive / adaptive technology means ‘software or hardware that has been specifically designed to assist people with disabilities in carrying out daily activities’ (World Wide Web Consortium – W3C). It includes screen readers, magnifiers, voice recognition software, alternative keyboards, devices for grasping, visual alert systems, digital note-takers. chc33015 assessment answers.

The reasonable adjustment made for collecting candidate assessment evidence must not impact on the standard expected by the workplace, as expressed by the relevant Unit(s) of Competency. E.g. Poverty Research Paper; Research Paper on Poverty

Sample 2

Poverty is a trait of the monetary circumstance of the individual or social gathering where they cannot fulfil a specific scope of the base necessities required forever sparing capacity, proceed with the race. Poverty is a relative idea and relies upon the general way of life in this general public.

  • Reasons for Poverty. Poverty is a result of assorted and interrelated reasons, which consolidate into the accompanying gatherings:
  • financial (joblessness, low wages, low efficiency, absence of seriousness of the business), socio-clinical (inability, mature age, significant levels of dismalness); segment (parent families, countless wards in the family); financial (low degree of social ensures); instructive capabilities (a low degree of instruction, absence of preparing); political (military clash, constrained relocation)
  • provincial geographic (lopsided improvement of areas), as per Causes of neediness (2009).

Idea meaning of Poverty. In world practice, there are three fundamental ideas of the meaning of Poverty: supreme, relative, abstract.

The idea of total Poverty is firmly connected with the idea of neediness. Neediness line (Poverty limit, Poverty line) – this is the degree of extra cash, net salary or utilization beneath which an individual is viewed as poor. Supreme neediness is frequently estimated as the number of individuals or families whose degree of utilization or pay is underneath the Poverty line. On the off chance that we take the Poverty line for the essential assets to continue, we can recognize all assets in an overabundance of this component as an optional salary. Once in a while, can be utilized a few Poverty lines – actually, for the neediness and extraordinary neediness (Poverty, outrageous Poverty). Poverty Research Paper

World Bank as an edge of total neediness characterizes a presence on under 1.25 U.S. dollar every day (the rate is determined by PPP). At the Poverty line as a pointer, there is one significant disadvantage: it disregards the number of family units that are straightforwardly above it with a little separation from it. We ought to likewise make reference to that it permits existing for a circumstance, where neediness and disparity are rising, and the quantity of individuals in Poverty is diminished, as indicated by Poverty decrease (2010).

The overall idea of neediness. Conversely, the supreme prompts Poverty. The proportion of relative Poverty uncovered the relative neediness line and its pay. For the situation when the genuine livelihoods of the populace develop, and their dispersion isn’t changed, relative neediness continues as before. Consequently, the idea of relative neediness is a segment of the idea of imbalance. Notwithstanding, this doesn’t imply that a lesser balance consistently implies a lower relative Poverty, or the other way around, as indicated by End neediness (2010).

The proportion of relative Poverty may show, for instance, what number of individuals are living underneath the average quarter. This methodology is especially helpful in distinguishing Poverty in new social orders or where it is hard to complete the valuation of a lot of advantages. An examination of incomes with a portion of design and the symphonious mean – extra exploration instruments definition of society. Poverty Research Paper

The organizer of the general idea of Poverty is P. Townsend, who considered Poverty as a condition where because of the absence of monetary assets the executives natural to most citizenry life, gets incomprehensible. His investigation of Poverty he established on the idea of a lot of experienced difficulties, multidimensional hardship, which he comprehended as “a condition of the discernible and verifiable hindrance of the individual, family or gathering on the foundation of the network, society and country all in all.”

The idea of multidimensional hardship was presented by P. Townsend, so that notwithstanding material hardship, which incorporates pointers, for example, food, dress, lodging, solid products, spot and condition of the living condition, conditions and nature of work, they are utilized just as the markers of social hardship, including nature of the business, particularly for recreation, training, and so on.

As of now, under this meaning of neediness, there are the two headings. The principal accentuation on methods for occupation, the capacity to purchase merchandise required for fundamental needs. For this situation, the plan of the relative Poverty line is utilized as a marker of middle individual extra cash. In the U.S., the outskirt of relative Poverty is 40% of middle pay, in most European nations – half, in Scandinavia – 60%. The subsequent heading called the common hypothesis of neediness, where Poverty is estimated as far as hardship in the broadest feeling of the word. For this situation, taking into account whether to permit dispensable intends to take an interest completely in the public arena, in light of certain fundamental sets accounted for hardship.  There are various misguided judgments in American culture that relate to the issue of Homelessness. For instance, numerous individuals wrongly accept that most Homeless individuals are people who have issues with liquor abuse, chronic drug use or psychological instability that in the long run drove them to their destitute state. This conviction isn’t just off-base, yet it neglects a developing marvel, which is the way that huge numbers of the destitute are families, and their circumstance gets to a great extent from the impacts of a bombing economy and settling on poor money related choices. The accompanying assessment of this issue centres around the exploration question of the breadth of this fragment of the destitute populace and how this issue might be tended to by open arrangement. This assessment uncovers that this destitute populace is broad and that the requirements of this populace have not been tended to adequately by open arrangement. Homelessness Research Paper.

Notwithstanding the misguided judgment that the destitute populace is basically comprised of people, it is likewise a misinterpretation that they are all around jobless. U.S. Enumeration Bureau figures show that 21 million Americans are delegated utilized (America, 2010).

Besides, insights show that families involve 41 per cent of this populace (Shinn, 2009). Academic writing regarding this matter flourishes with instances of families that have had this experience. For instance, the group of Contina Wright and her better half carried on an agreeable, white-collar class life in New Jersey until the droop in the lodging market implied that work for Mr Wright turned out to be scant (Juri, 2010). Mrs Wright’s unobtrusive profit, now, turned into their significant type of help and, therefore, the family hit “absolute bottom” and needed to live in a destitute asylum for a while (Juri, 2010).

While the Wright family had the option to benefit themselves of administrations for the destitute, numerous families in a similar circumstance have an issue getting to these administrations the same number of destitute safe houses just guide people on government assistance (Juri, 2010). As indicated by The National Coalition for the Homeless (2009), “Neediness and the absence of moderate lodging are the chief reasons for Family Homelessness.” This implies numerous individuals, for example, the Wright family, look for help as havens for the destitute. Be that as it may, such safe houses likewise have a lot of issues. Homelessness Research Paper

The subsidizing expected to run the results of the safe house from government assistance programs, and these families may not fall inside the exacting boundaries expected to qualify for help. As this shows, there is the polarity between the ordinary conceptualization of the destitute and the truth that there is a sizeable populace of individuals who can best be portrayed as the working poor. Insights from the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that among people in the work power for “27 weeks or more in 2008, 3.9 per cent” of this number were “generally utilized full time” and could be delegated “working poor” and 13.7 per cent of low maintenance labourers could likewise be remembered for this class (BLS, 2010).

At the point when change enactment is presented in authoritative bodies, there will without a doubt be the individuals who contend that tending to this section of the destitute populace is excessively costly as of now. In any case, this contention disregards the way that coherent, reasonable and monetarily doable interventional programs have been proposed. For example, the utilization of decommissioned army installations as destitute havens as sketched out by Morgan (2010) establishes such an answer. Besides, authorities at a few non-benefit associations have proposed thoughts concerning money related change recommendations that could have hugely useful consequences for this issue. All in all, measurements show that the issue of working families, which have fallen underneath the destitution line and in either are encountering Homelessness or are at risk for doing as such, has gotten broad. This issue, along these lines, enormously needs the consideration of policymakers and the formation of change enactment and program activities that are intended to address the requirements of this fragment of the destitute populace. The issue is mind-boggling, with multifaceted causal elements. Be that as it may, to sit idle, sentences a huge number of Americans to budgetary difficulty and enduring as they increment the destitute populace.

Homelessness is an extremely big issue that America has come to confront. A huge number of individuals, including kids, families, infants, veterans, and the old life for a long time without food, water or a rooftop over their heads. Individuals that are intellectually sick likewise have it intense in the city, which can be very befuddling to them, and risky to the remainder of society. This issue must be tackled soon, and accordingly ought to be tended to as a significant emergency that is influencing our general public.

The quantity of destitute families with kids has expanded altogether over the previous decade or something like that. They are among the quickest developing portions of the destitute populace. Together they are around 40% surprisingly who are destitute. Tragically, provincial regions contain the biggest gathering of destitute families, single parents, and youngsters. Feelings hit home when youngsters and children can be envisioned living in a back street with just dreams of warmth, while typical working-class residents walk around wearing coats and gloves without valuing them.

Individuals have not generally needed to endure with Homelessness. In spite of the fact that the issue has quite often existed, it had not arrived at an extreme level until the mid-1970s. With each war, there has been a little stream of destitute veterans to follow, yet the Vietnam War and the Korean War left an influx of numerous individuals without any place to go. This was only the beginning of the issue. Numerous vagrants lived in places called Skid Row. A spot with modest bars, amusement, and modest lodging in structures called SROs, or Single Room Occupancy. At that point, urban communities began to develop, and in the mid-1970s One million SROs were supplanted with parking areas, structures and lofts. Ghetto-town in the long run evaporated. At that point, the administration chose to decriminalize what was left to control. That implies there were a considerable number of vagrants that would typically be captured under these conditions, despite everything meandering the avenues. Ladies and kids began to channel into the destitute scene, and afterwards in a colossal downturn during the 1980s 11,000,000 individuals were laid off (9.7% everything being equal). The quantities of vagrants took off. It didn’t stop here, however. President Reagan and Bush dropped open lodging assets from 30 billion dollars to 6.7 billion, a total deficit of 37,800 houses for every year. By the start of the 1990s, more than one million individuals were on sitting tight records for homes. Homelessness Research Paper

The one classification that the vast majority expect all destitute fall into is the undeserving destitute, or “bums”. These are normally men in their 40s or 50s who lounge around the entire day and sit idle. They don’t help out themselves or others. The falsehood and cheat and genuinely merit nothing since they would give nothing in the event that they had to. They make up a little gathering truth be told, about 4% of all destitute.

Medications are wherever in the city. It is assessed that 20% surprisingly living on the avenues utilize hard medications every day. Such medications as cocaine, courageous woman, and morphine plague certain regions. Helps regularly fans out quickly among individuals who share un-sanitized needles, and once an individual agreement the HIV infection, they become a measurement in the debilitated classification.

Indeed, even individuals with all-day occupations are needing a changeless home. These individuals live on eating pieces of food from garbage bins, and potential suppers from covers now and again, however, those are generally three times each week at supper or some other kind of timetable. Individuals who have homes infrequently think, nor can fathom what awful things that the destitute need to experience. They live in relinquished structures, vehicles, transports, boxes, on leave seats and underground. They eat bits of old foods grown from the ground with the form and green slime rejected off.

I have understood that there appear to be two fundamental components in sparing a vagrant. The administration needs to assist destitute with peopling financially recover. They have to ensure additionally that vagrants don’t manhandle frameworks, for example, the government managed savings and lodging. Additionally, the destitute need to get up on their own two feet, for themselves. Securing positions, for example, selling “Destitute Newspapers” is by all accounts a typical initial step. A merchant gets the papers for nothing or minimal effort, sells them for something like a dollar and keeps 55 pennies, or somewhat more than half, for each sold. The destitute would then be able to utilize this cash to pay for food, sanctuary, and etcetera. Numerous asylums exist whose essential objective is to enable the destitute to find a new line of work and home. They offer PC educators, greens keepers, welders, and different sorts of art that can be utilized in the public arena today. So if the legislature is happy to help get the destitute energized into the needing of superior life, and they wish to finish, at that point I figure we could locate a superior, quicker approach to end the country’s concern of Homelessness.

We consider them to be a group, one substance; we call them the destitute, as though it recognizes what their identity is. What most overlook is that they are additionally individuals. These “individuals” with social handicaps or money related issues are surrendered by society and become destitute in the city. What’s more, albeit many accept they don’t owe anybody help, a little liberality could go far headed straight toward bringing down destitute numbers far and wide.
