Dominos pizzeria is interested in a CD-ROM training program, that will involve the proper preparation of the dough and how to properly roll out a pizza. The major question is how can they measure whether CD-ROM training is more successful on the job training. “Companies invest on training because learning creates knowledge; often, it is this knowledge that distinguishes successful companies and employees” (Noe pg. 217) Companies spend millions of dollars training and developing people. According to the 2017 training industry report “small business average $1886.00 per employee”. I believe that technology is the future however on certain jobs it can not be the only training, especially when it refers to manual labor. I believe it should be a combination of both. However one thing that many companies struggle with is when the developing program is managed by different departments. “The problem becomes worse when each group uses its own set of tools and technology without planning how to share data and information with the others.” (Hunt pg. 258) I believe everyone learns differently and while some people might learn well by simply observing others need to be able to actually do the job. In my experience especially when it comes to cooking people needs to be able to be hands-on, I believe a combination of both will work well do the virtual training first in order to gain knowledge but at the end, people should be able to have a trainer that will show them how to use the equipment and follow recipes. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”(Proverbs 22:6 ESV) Training people is very important in having the right method and the right people will make all the difference in the world.

I’m studying for my Business class and need an explanation.

Aaron,

Week 1

I conducted my interview with the Training and Development Manager at South Carolina Federal Credit Union (SCFCU) which is where I currently work. Her name is Margaret and she stated that the training initiatives within the credit union are constantly changing. She stated that they must stay up to date with the processes for training in order to increase employee engagement. “Employees who are engaged in their work and committed to their companies give those companies the advantage, including higher productivity, better customer service and lower turnover. (Noe, 2010. p 17) She stated that in the last five years they have relied heavily on video media for training courses and are now offering overall education for the employees. For example, as of two years ago, the credit union offers training classes that help with resume writing, interview skills, and professional writing. It is important for the credit union to continuously grow their current employees to reduce employee turnover and create a culture of longevity.

Margaret also mentioned that each employee has an individual learning plan that is specific to their role within the credit union. These plans are computer based and the employee can move at his/her own pace. If an employee finishes theirs, they can request a plan the correlates in an area in which they are interested. I currently work in Collections in our Loss Prevention department and have completed my current learning plan, she let me know that since I am interested in Human Resources and in Recruiting it would show initiative if I start working on one of those plans.

2 Timothy 3:16 ESV says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” this scripture reminds us to be consistent in our learning and to develop ourselves personally and professionally.
