I’m working on a Chemistry exercise and need support.
Hello,
I am stuck on this problem and would like some help.
An aqueous solution with a pH of 8.5 contains 2mg/L of cyanide (CN–), and the gas above that solution has a partial pressure of PHCN(g) = 10-6 bar.
- What is the concentration of HCN(aq) in this solution?
- The following is given: HCN à H+ + CN– ; Ka=10-9.24
- Knowing that H = [HCN]g / [HCN]aq = 10-1.4 bar/(mol/L); is HCN transferring from the gas phase into the solution, from the solution into the gas phase, or is the gas-liquid system at equilibrium?
Can i please get some help on this. My professor doesnt give much more information other than what is asked in the question.
