I thought that my freshman year was one of the most significant challenges and possibly the worst year before the major tragedy that included my health status. Nonetheless, it made me a strong person. Like my family, my parents were not that well stable, but we used to manage. My perception was that I was undergoing the most challenging situation that most people, until a tragedy happen. One day I started to cough frequently for one week, which prompted me to go for a medical checkup as usual. It was a requirement for my school for every student to go for medical and health checkup every two weeks. Therefore, I was assessed by my medical doctor. My doctor told me that they found a dark area on my lung, and there might be a signal of cancer. Since it was just a little dot, the doctor can’t tell if it is the worst situation I worry about. It comes at a shocking surprise that took me by surprise since I was still young and full of dreams and goals to achieve yet. Although the doctor said not to worry since it was too early to conclude if I had cancer, I faced terrible frequent nightmares and depression. I was taking certain medications to see if the medication can make the dot disappear to prove it is not cancer. I was mentally crashed in that quarter, because, besides waiting, there was nothing I could do. I was having a nightmare almost every day. The sight of my grandmother suffering from cancer could not fate from my mind (my grandmother passed away because of cancer). I have been flying back home a lot to check on the status of the illness. As a result, the effects of the medical report began to affect my academic performance. My grades started to fall gradually to the point that teachers become curious about what was happening to me. Luckily, after 277 days, the dot disappeared. I still believed that it was my second birthday. I started focusing on my academic work and improve my grades.
Trying to explain the grade was damaged by this incident.
