Recostume the characters of Romeo and Juliet

I’m studying for my Art & Design class and need an explanation.

For this assignment, you will be required to recostume the characters of Romeo & Juliet from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Costumes should reflect a removal from the play’s original Italian Renaissance setting.

This assignment should mimic a rendering. Therefore, the assignment should be colored and reflect the character, time period, and director’s (your) vision. Coloring method is at your discretion (i.e. colored pencil, crayon, marker, etc).

Attached you will find two figures; male and female (Romeo and Juliet). These are the only two characters you need to costume. On the back of each figure should be a description of the time period to which the costume design is referencing. You will also need to give a brief explanation of the pieces you will be using in your costume design (i.e. hats, tops, bottoms, shoes, etc.). If you put it on your figure it should be in the explanation.

Example: In this version of Romeo & Juliet set on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in 1958, Juliet is wearing a blue and white polka-dot bikini set (top and bottom). Over the bikini bottom is a white sheer bikini cover up knotted on the right side and asymmetrical in length. The hair is in loose waves. She is wearing gold medium sized hoop earrings. I wanted the costumes to have an Elvis Presley, 50’s beach movie vibe.
